Abstract
The basic ingredients of a mathematical model for the prediction of political corruption in democratic societies are briefly outlined. Applied to Italy from 1948, the model predicts the 1992 episode known as Tangentopoli and interprets the recent scandals as an unavoidable recrudescence.
