What is behind the creation of an outstanding show? What is, today, the role of technology in the creative process? How is innovation technology able to open new frontiers in the show experience?
Innovation technology has a great impact on our way of living, from social experience to our way of working. The way, today, we compose music and we create shows are also highly influenced by the new technological revolution. High-end technologies, like 3D projections, interaction design and VR, are changing the way we experience shows and live events.
In the new scenario, multidisciplinarity is the word. People from many different disciplines (art, design, engineering, etc.) need to be in the same room during the creative process, in order to exploit the full potential of the combination of art and technology.
With the contribute of Simone Ferrari, well-known show maker (Cirque du Soleil, Olympic Ceremonies, X Factor Italy, etc.), the seminar is intended to offer a perspective on the present and the future of the show industry with a particular focus on the use of innovation technology for the design of outstanding show experiences.
Simone Ferrari is a Show Director and Creative Director whose work focuses on the interplay between physical theatre, new technologies, video, and set design.
He is currently creating together with Lulu Helbaek “Nysa”, the first Cirque du Soleil resident show in Europe, which will premiere in Berlin at the Potsdamer Platz Theatre in winter 2021.
In 2018 and 2019 Fremantle Media and Sky have appointed Simone as Creative Director for X Factor Italy. His first XF season received critical acclaim and was defined as “the season which has elevated show standards in Italy with a superbe mise en scene and design” (Corriere della Sera) and has been the most followed season ever of XF Italy.
Simone became the youngest director in the world to design an Olympic Ceremony in 2017 with “Wondrous Wind”, the Closing Ceremony of the Asian Aimag Games produced by Balich Worldwide Shows.
His experience at Balich WS from 2013 to 2018, a world leader in the field of live entertainment, as Director of the Creative Department and Creative Director has allowed him to grow as a professional and as an artist, working in some of the most complex and challenging environments in the world of entertainment.
With a past as a musician and performer and with a deep sensitivity towards the contemporary art, Simone Ferrari loves to mix different languages to create shows that blend art and entertainment.
Multidisciplinarity and a sharing attitude are the center of his work; he loves creating synergies between different artists and offering the opportunity to all the talents involved in the creative process to express themselves at their best and with the maximum level of freedom.
