SAS-Lab - Safe Automation Systems Laboratory
Activities
The Safe Automation Systems Laboratory (SAS-Lab) carries out methodological and experimental research in the area of control systems that must operate with high autonomy, in presence of constraints that are safety-critical for the system itself and its environment. The main theoretical research topics of the lab are the derivation of uncertainty models from prior information and data; the design of advanced, robust and adaptive model predictive control logics; the design of optimization algorithms in presence of constraints and uncertainty.
These methods are motivated by, and applied to, several technological fields:
- Airborne Wind Energy Systems;
- Digitalization, monitoring and inspection of civil infrastructure with aerial drones;
- Advanced control systems for smart manufacturing plants;
- Optimal management of electric generation systems and loads.
Service information
The lab is situated on the second floor of building 20 (Via Ponzio 34/5. Milan). Laboratories are open during the normal department opening hours.
