
Born in 2018 as a master's thesis project in Biomedical Engineering, TToP - True Tissue on Platform is a versatile and modular microphysiological platform capable of replicating in vitro the complex physio-pathological conditions of human tissues. This technology makes the process of developing and testing new drugs and treatments more effective and less expensive, while minimizing the use of animal models.
The project has already received a 30,000 euros grant in the 2020/2021 edition of Switch2Product. In addition, TToP won the 2021 edition of StartCup Lombardia and signed a Proof of Concept contract with the Poli360 fund.
The platform was developed at the ATTiC Lab of the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering by Lorenzo Coppadoro with Prof. Gianfranco Beniamino Fiore and Prof. Monica Soncini. The team also includes Maria Lombardi and Chiara Foglieni from the San Raffaele Hospital in Milan, who supported the project and collaborated in the validation of the device, and Marco Piola, now R&D Manager at the medical device company Qura.
