His research activities span theoretical modeling, algorithm design, simulation frameworks, and experimental validation for next-generation communication and sensing systems. In recent years, he has contributed to the development of Digital Network Twin technologies for wireless networks, advanced ISAC solutions, intelligent radio resource management, and localization techniques for autonomous and connected systems.
He is actively involved in national and European research initiatives and currently coordinates and contributes to projects addressing 6G networks, sensing-enabled communications, and AI-driven network management. His work aims to bridge communication, sensing, and intelligence to enable resilient, efficient, and context-aware future wireless systems.
Francesco has established collaborations with several international research institutions and is involved in European research networks on advanced communication technologies. His scientific activity has resulted in publications in leading journals and conferences in the fields of wireless communications, networking, and signal processing.
He serves as Associate Editor for IEEE Vehicular Technology Magazine and IET Electronics Letters and regularly participates in the Technical Program Committees of major international conferences. His work has received several recognitions, including research grants, Best Paper Awards, and awards for scientific and technical contributions to large-scale research programs.
