Francesco Trovò is Associate Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at the "Dipartimento di Elelttronica, Informazione e Bioingegneria" of the Politecnico di Milano, where he obtained the Laurea degree in Mathematical Engineering in 2011 and the Ph.D. in Information Technology in 2015. In 2020, he co-founded MLcube, a Politecnico di Milano spinoff devoted to the technological transfer of AI techniques in industrial settings.
He is currently teaching the “Machine Learning” course for the Bioinformatics for Computational Genomics M.Sc. study course and the "Online Learning and Monitoring" course for the PhD in Information Technology. His research interests focus on online machine learning algorithms, particularly the development of bandit techniques and their application to real-world problems (e.g., health, and environmental monitoring).
He has published more than 60 peer-reviewed papers on some of the most prestigious international conferences (NeurIPS, ICML, AAAI, AISTATS, and IJCAI) and journals (AIJ, JAIR, TNNLS) in the machine-learning and artificial intelligence fields. He has served as a reviewer for several international conferences and journals. He is currently associate editor for the IEEE Transaction on Neural Networks and Learning Systems. He is the principal investigator of several research projects funded by public entities and some of the leading Italian companies. Currently, he is involved in three European projects: I3LUNG (https://i3lung.eu/), SafeCREW (https://safecrew.org/), and iBeChange (https://ibechange-website.ecancer.org/).
