Alessandro Margara is an Associate Professor at Politecnico di Milano.
He received his PhD in Information Technology from Politecnico di Milano and was a postdoctoral researcher at the Vrije Universiteit (VU) Amsterdam and at the Università della Svizzera italiana (USI). His research interests include event stream processing and software engineering for distributed and data-intensive systems. Alessandro is co-author of tens of papers in the areas of software engineering and distributed systems. He has received the DEBS 2014 Best Paper Award, and the DEBS 2020 Test of Time Award. Alessandro has served in the program committee of top international conferences such as IEEE ICDE, IEEE ICDCS, IEEE BigData, ACM DEBS. He was general co-chair of ACM DEBS 2021.
He was invited participant to various Dagstuhl Seminars and a Shonan Meeting. He was co-organizer of a Dagstuhl Seminar on the foundations of Complex Event Recognition.
