Francesco Morichetti is Associate Professor at Dipartimento di Elettronica, Informazione e Bioingegneria – Politecnico di Milano (2020) and he is Head of the Photonic Devices Lab of Politecnico di Milano (2009). From 2001 to 2008 he was a Researcher in the Integrated Optics group of Corecom (Consorzio Ricerca, Elaborazione, Commutazione Ottica Milano) and from 2009 to 2011 he worked as a Researcher at Fondazione Politecnico di Milano. Subsequently, he joined Politecnico di Milano as a PostDoctoral Research Fellow (2012-2017) and as a Researcher (2017-2020).
His research activity focuses on integrated photonics for applications in the field of communications and information processing. In particular, he is interested in the electromagnetic analysis and circuit design of optical devices fabricated on the main photonic platforms and in the development of advanced techniques for diagnostics, monitoring and automated control of programmable photonic integrated circuits.
He participated with leading roles in several research programs (EU FP6, EU FP7, EU H2020, PRIN, EDA) in collaboration with international research institutes and industries operating in the field of integrated photonics. He is the author of 3 book chapters, 80 peer-reviewed publications in international journals, more than 180 international conference proceedings and he holds 8 international patents. He is a member of the technical committee of the national conference "ICOP" (Italian Conference on Optics and Photonics) and of the scientific committee of Spotlight on Optics (Optical Society of America).
