Maristella Matera completed her “Laurea” Degree in Computer Science (cum Laude) at the University of Bari in 1994 and a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Automation Engineering from Politecnico di Milano in 2000. Early in her career, she was awarded fellowships that allowed her to conduct research at various institutions in Europe and the USA. Since 2001 she has then held various positions at the Politecnico di Milano – DEIB, where she now leads the Human-Centric Interactive Technology lab (HINT lab – https://hintlab.polimi.it/). Her research interests bridge Human-Computer Interaction and Model-driven Web Engineering, focusing on design methods, tools and new technology that facilitate the development of interactive applications, with an emphasis on end-user empowerment and inclusivity. Maristella has a substantial publication record that also includes four books.
She has contributed to the organization of several international conferences and is an Associate Editor for the ACM Transactions on the Web. At the Politecnico di Milano, she teaches courses related to Human-Computer Interaction, Human-centered AI, and Interaction Design.
