Luca Di Rienzo (senior member IEEE) received the M. Sc. degree (cum laude) and the Ph. D. degree in Electrical Engineering from Politecnico di Milano, in 1996 and 2001 respectively, and the B.Sc. (cum laude) degree in Mathematics from Università Statale di Milano in 2020. From November 2000 to December 2004, he was a research assistant and from 2005 to 2015 an assistant professor with the Department of Electrical Engineering of Politecnico di Milano. From April 2015, he has been an associate professor in the Department of Electronics, Information, and Bioengineering at Politecnico di Milano. Currently, his research interests focus on computational electromagnetics, specifically on integral equation methods, surface impedance boundary conditions, uncertainty quantification, and electromagnetic modeling of submarine power cables.
Prof. Di Rienzo is an Associate Editor of The Applied Computational Electromagnetics Society Journal and of the IEEE Open Access Journal of Power and Energy, and a member of the Editorial Board of COMPEL-The International Journal for Computation and Mathematics in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
He participated in two international mobility programs (CNR, Vigoni Program). In addition, he was the scientific coordinator of a NATO Security through Science Programme in 2004 and of three collaborative projects funded by Xi’an Jiaotong University, Xi’an, China, in 2011, 2016, and 2020. Since 2016, he has been responsible for five research contracts with Prysmian S.p.A. concerning the electromagnetic modeling of submarine cables, and for one research contract with Terna Rete Italia focused on the electromagnetic simulation of underground cables. He is currently the local coordinator of a PRIN 2022 research project on transcranial magnetic stimulation.
