Francesco Pierri, a researcher from the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering of the Politecnico di Milano, has won the SIGKDD 2023 Outstanding Dissertation Award – Runner Up. The award was presented to him during the 29^th ACM SIGKDD CONFERENCE ON KNOWLEDGE DISCOVERY AND DATA MINING, held in Long Beach, California, from August 6 to 10, 2023. The young researcher was awarded for his doctoral dissertation in Data Analytics and Decision Sciences entitled 'Characterization and Detection of Disinformation Spreading in Online Social Networks', discussed in 2022 at the Politecnico di Milano and presented during the conference.
