"ILAUD WEEK DERGANO - Cities under Shock and Stresses 2021", online workshop promoted by ILAUD (International Laboratory of Architecture & Urban Design), will take place from July 19th to 23rd, 2021, with the participation of Sara Comai and Mariagrazia Fugini, associate professors of DEIB department.
The purpose of the workshop in Dergano is to understand how the pandemic has had an impact on the social and spatial structure of the neighborhood and what kind of social marginality has emerged. Particular attention will be given to different groups of vulnerable people, primarily the elderly, but also young people, the unemployed, migrants etc.
Focusing on social marginalities and their repercussions on housing, the use of public space, access to services and green space, etc., would allow the definition of a series of inclusive principles to propose future and more sustainable environmental regeneration post-pandemic plans, and projects. In addition to contributing useful proposals to the community of Durango, this project contributes to the wider European effort to overcome the current crisis with more resilient and climate sensitive urban solutions.
Students and tutors will work closely with local communities to give them a voice in this process and to co-design sustainable place-based solutions together.
The contribution of the DEIB professors will highlight the requirements of an online platform capable of involving local communities in architectural and design restructuring / inclusion processes, also applicable to other cases and urban contexts.
