Description
Technological evolution in the field of diagnosis and medical treatment has turned the collaboration between doctors and engineers into a strategic element for a conscious and efficient use of new digital and data analysis tools, and of the so-called enabling technologies.
The joint research center Cardio Tech-lab, Modeling and Application for Human Health, result of the fruitful collaboration between the DEIB and the Monzino Cardiology Center, sanctions this transformation and aims at becoming one of the top innovation laboratories in the field of training, research and medical treatments, thus testifying to Politecnico di Milano’s commitment to the issues of people’s health and well-being.

Description
The National Center of Oncological Hadrontherapy was born with the aim of treating radio-resistant or surgically inoperable tumours by means of protons and carbon ions, particles that belong to the category of hadrons. CNAO is also a Research and Development Centre whose activities range from radiobiological to translational clinical research, aimed at continuously improving treatment skills.
CNAO is excellence-oriented in the treatment of oncological pathologies through hadrontherapy, research and technological innovation.

Description
The joint Human Tech & Care Research Center results from the close collaboration between DEIB and IRCCS Policlinico San Donato. It aims to providing an environment equipped with state-of-the-art software and hardware technologies, where physicians and biomedical engineers can work together and develop advanced clinically driven research as well as new solutions for clinical training.
The pivot of the joint research center is in the 3D and Computer Simulation Laboratory, whose activity is focused on cardiovascular applications, and whose mission consists in providing clinicians with new and more effective tools to exploit at best the information yielded by advanced medical imaging, in order to improve early diagnosis, prognosis, as well as surgical and interventional planning. The activities of the Lab cover computational fluid dynamics and structural mechanics to simulate the effects of pathologies and interventions, the processing of medical imaging for the direct computation of the in vivo mechanics of tissues and organs, the AI-based morpho-functional classification of anatomies and the use of 3D-printed phantoms to support interventional planning.
