Person details

Sofia is a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering (DEIB) at the Polytechnic of Milan. She works on the PHOENIX project, analysing the epistemological and ethical challenges related to the acceptability of Non-Animal Models (NAMs) in biomedical research.
After completing a PhD in Philosophy (Bioethics) at the University of Naples “Federico II”, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher for the National Biodiversity Future Center at the University of Padova, Italy.
Beyond academia, she works as a science and environmental journalist for several Italian outlets and magazines. She writes about the planetary crisis – particularly biodiversity loss and ecosystem degradation – and broader sustainability issues.
