Thanks to the involvement of Prof. Paolo Cremonesi from the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering, Politecnico di Milano is among the founding members of the Italian Quantum Alliance, a new national initiative that brings together universities, research centres, industry players, and public institutions with the aim of building an integrated and competitive ecosystem in the field of quantum technologies.
The Alliance is part of the Italian Strategy for Quantum Science and Technologies and was established with the ambition to enhance national excellence, avoid resource fragmentation, and promote synergies among academia, science, industry, and public institutions.
In addition to Politecnico di Milano, the initiative includes seven other founding partners: The University of Bologna, CINECA, INRIM – the National Institute of Metrological Research, the University of Padua, INAF – the National Institute for Astrophysics, INFN – the National Institute for Nuclear Physics, and the University of Pavia.
Quantum technology is currently one of the most promising frontiers of innovation, with potentially revolutionary impacts in industrial, economic, educational, and social fields. From quantum communication networks to quantum computers, from precision sensing to applications of artificial intelligence, the technologies under development open up unprecedented scenarios for the science and industry of the future.
In this context, the Italian Quantum Alliance aims to position Italy as a key player in the global quantum transformation, contributing to the development of cutting-edge technologies and the training of the skills needed to face tomorrow's challenges.
