Micol Spitale, researcher at the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering – Politecnico di Milano, is among the winners of the IDEA League Fellowship Exchange Program 2024-2025 and will spend a three-month visiting period at the ETH Zurich, where she will carry out research on the potential of intelligent agents in providing psychological assistance in group well-being coaching.
More specifically, the research will consist in designing, developing and evaluating an LLM-powered social agent that can facilitate group interactions for mental well-being. The project aims to advance the current state of the art in the areas of the use of LLM for multi-party interaction (a field as yet little explored), the collection of group interaction dataset of well-being coaching, and the analysis of how LLM agents are perceived by humans in the context of group interactions.
IDEA League is a strategic partnership between five leading European universities in the field of science and technology. In addition to the Politecnico di Milano, TU Delft, ETH Zurich, RWTCH Aachen University and Chalmers University of Technology are also members. Through the IDEA League Fellowship Exchange Programme, the association promotes collaboration and networking among the five universities involved, enabling researchers to overcome institutional barriers and cultivate innovative research topics that address the most pressing challenges at European and global level.
