Eugenia Villa, who obtained her PhD in Data Analytics and Decision Science at Politecnico di Milano, has received the 2026 Best PhD Dissertation Award presented by the Italian Chapter of the IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Society.
The award is presented annually to the best PhD dissertation in the field of Intelligent Transportation Systems, recognising work distinguished by innovation and practical relevance. It aims to promote research that brings together theory and practice, delivers in-depth technical contributions or adopts an interdisciplinary perspective, helping to advance the ITS field from both methodological and application-oriented viewpoints.
Eugenia Villa received the award for her dissertation, “Diversity-aware Design of Intermodal Smart-mobility Solutions for an Inclusive and Sustainable Society”, completed under the supervision of Prof. Mara Tanelli of the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering.
The thesis proposes a data-driven framework to promote inclusive and sustainable mobility solutions, taking into account individual diversities to enhance the effectiveness of the policies that are designed to support adoption.
