The paper ‘Low-Cost High-Performance Generator for Testing Current Transformers Based on Frequency-Domain Feedback’ won the Best Paper Award during the IEEE Applied Measurement on Power Systems (AMPS) conference, held in Caserta, Italy, on September 18-20, 2024.

The paper, written by Christian Laurano, Marco Faifer, Roberto Ottoboni and Sergio Toscani from the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering – Politecnico di Milano, propose a low-cost architecture of a generation system for periodic current waveforms with a given harmonic content, digitally synthesized. It can be employed for electrical component testing, such as current transformers. Thanks to a feedback control, it allows the system to increase the overall accuracy, bounded by the reference transducer employed. The proposed generator can be used to test electrical components in distorted periodic conditions.
