The Urban Auto Labs research project, promoted by the Municipality of Milan in the context of the Milan Living Lab and financed by the Department for Digital Transformation with the aim of co-designing innovative solutions for autonomous and assisted mobility, has started.

The project will involve Politecnico di Milano, with a research group coordinated by Prof. Sergio Matteo Savaresi from the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering, and Università degli Studi di Milano Bicocca, together with Fondazione Politecnico di Milano and MOST - Centro Nazionale per la Mobilità Sostenibile.

The Urban Auto Labs research project will address the challenges and opportunities fostered by technologies related to autonomous and assisted driving. The focus of the project is the involvement of mobility users and associations with the aim of stimulating discussion on how autonomous driving systems can positively impact urban mobility.

The first workshop dedicated to connected and autonomous mobility took place over the past few days and involved three of the project targets – urban mobility actors, stakeholders and experimenters. Through interactive discussions and activities, the aim was to listen to the various participants’ perspectives, in order to spread awareness of the wide range of opinions and experiences. The ultimate goal will be the identification and sharing of innovative solutions for the challenges and opportunities related to connected and autonomous mobility that have emerged, encouraging creativity and cooperation.
