Luca Colombo, student in the Information Technology Ph.D. programme at the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering – Politecnico di Milano, has been awarded a Graduate Student Research Grant by the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society.

The grant is intended for undergraduate and graduate students or Ph.D. students who need financial support to pursue their research activities. The primary objective of the scholarship is to fund a research period at another university or research institute, where the scholarship holder will engage in collaborative research with an identified researcher in the candidate's field of interest.

The IEEE Computational Intelligence Society is part of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and focuses on computational intelligence. This encompasses a range of computational paradigms inspired by biology and linguistics, including the theorisation, design, application and development of neural networks, connectionist systems, genetic algorithms, evolutionary programming, fuzzy systems and hybrid intelligent systems.
