The poster ‘Towards the Acceleration of the Sparse Blossom Algorithm for Quantum Error Correction,’ presented at the 31st Reconfigurable Architecture Workshop (RAW 2024), was awarded the Best Poster Award.
The poster was written by Marco Venere, Valentino Guerrini, Beatrice Branchini, Davide Conficconi, Donatella Sciuto and Marco Santambrogio from the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering, Politecnico di Milano.
The work represents the first step in the FPGA acceleration of the Sparse Blossom algorithm, a state-of-the-art algorithm for Quantum Error Correction.
In particular, a profiling of the procedure is provided in order to evaluate and accelerate its main bottleneck. In addition, a general automation procedure is outlined that hides from the end user the complexity required for managing development tools on FPGAs.
