On Thursday, May 16, 2024, the inaugural event of the Inter-University Research Center Me.Te (Methods and Digital Technologies for the Empowerment and Rehabilitation of Cognitive and Linguistic Functions) took place at the Politecnico di Milano. This center involves the Department of Electronics, Information, and Bioengineering of the Politecnico di Milano and the Departments of Psychology and Computer Science, Systems, and Communication of the University of Milano-Bicocca.
The objectives of Me.Te are to promote multidisciplinary research on the methodological and technical aspects associated with the use of innovative digital technologies to address problems related to cognitive and linguistic disorders and to enhance the functionality and autonomy of people suffering from them. Me.Te also aims to facilitate the technological transfer of academic results, promote joint participation in national and international competitive research projects, design new training programs, and create events for public communication and awareness.
The extraordinary multidisciplinary team of Me.Te consists of 28 professors and researchers from the two partner universities. Their expertise ranges from the most advanced digital technologies (virtual, mixed, and augmented reality, smart objects, smart spaces, assistive home automation, bio-sensors, natural language processing, machine learning, social and affective computing, social robots, data science, and computational neuroscience) to neurostimulation techniques, from the theorization and measurement of human behavior in all its aspects (cognitive, emotional, linguistic, physical, pain, well-being, risk perception, and social inclusion) to their representation and modeling, extending the study of the person to all life stages (developmental, adult, and aging).
