The 2022 IEEE Nuclear Science Symposium (NSS), the Medical Imaging Conference (MIC) and the Semiconductor Radiation Detectors Conference (RTSD) will be held from November 5 to 12, 2022 at the Allianz MiCo Convention Centre in Milano.
Professor Chiara Guazzoni, DEIB Associate Professor, will be the General Chair of the three conferences.
A different venue is selected every year all over the world. In 2018 the venue was Sydney (NSW, Australia), in 2019 Manchester (UK), in 2020 it was supposed to be Boston (USA) and in 2021 Yokohama (Japan), but, due to the well known pandemic, the last two editions were held entirely in virtual mode.
This year's will therefore be the first edition to be held again in presence and in hybrid mode also online.
The IEEE NSS-MIC-RTSD is a unique meeting in the field of radiation detectors and instrumentation attendees and presenters are academics, engineers, medical physicists, and physicians with very diverse backgrounds and experience, sharing their latest results and creating new networking opportunities. The synergy created by the joining of the NSS, MIC and RTSD offers a networking potential to boost your scientific creativity, to exchange ideas, share and create knowledge in different fields spanning from the radiation detector and electronics technology, nuclear science to medical imaging, environmental monitoring and space exploration fields.
The conference has always been sensitive to inclusion and diversity with a dedicated Women in Engineering event to encourage young female researchers to pursue their careers, showing how it is possible to balance research and professional life with family and personal life.
The conference translates this focus into practice, not only with grants for the participation of talented young people especially from lower income countries, but also with a dedicated Child Care Grant.
The General Chair personally supported the presence of a man and a woman in the top positions of the Organising Committee, convinced that from the union of different competences and attitudes.
As part of the initiatives related to the conference, on Friday afternoon, November 11th, 2022, there will be an event dedicated to remembering the 100th anniversary of the birth of Emilio Gatti, a great scientist with mild and gentle tones, DEIB professor for many years, who brought the name and fame of Milan allover to the world and also into space.
