Project abstract

The CYCERONE project was conceived to address the growing need for cybersecurity skills at the European level, with particular attention to small and medium-sized enterprises and the public sector, which are especially exposed to cyber threats and often lack adequate resources and specialized expertise. In a context of rapid digital transformation and increasing complexity of cyberattacks, CYCERONE aims to strengthen Europe’s capacity to develop, attract, and retain advanced cybersecurity skills.

The initiative seeks to establish an integrated European platform for advanced cybersecurity training, capable of centralising, harmonising, and making educational programmes and training pathways offered by universities, research centres, and professional training providers widely accessible. Through the creation of a dedicated Digital Academy, the project promotes upskilling and reskilling activities for the European workforce, fostering continuous skills development and alignment with emerging labour market needs.

Project activities include the design, development, and delivery of training courses in online, hybrid, and on-the-job formats, covering different levels of specialisation and professional profiles. The ultimate goal of CYCERONE is to make a concrete contribution to reducing the cybersecurity skills gap, strengthening Europe’s digital resilience and supporting the competitiveness, security, and sustainability of the European digital ecosystem.
