Project abstract
The project was framed in a contract between the Italian Space Agency, ASI, and CGS, aiming at the design of a round processing facility for future remote-sensing data generation. The role of POLIMI was the design and the development of an algorithm to process in a very efficient way – say real time – data acquired from space-borne SAR sensors, obtaining images at a course geometric resolution, “quick-look”. In the on-going project, attentions were based on both the intrinseca algorithm efficiency and its implementation in a multi-processor environment. The processor was designed having as a target the generation of images that can be stored and retrieved with different level of quality (depending on the user need), in JEPG2000 and delivered with JPIP protocol. The project has been completed.
