Prof. SANGIORGIO MATTEO
Assistant professor
Matteo Sangiorgio was born in Morbegno (SO) in 1992. He received his bachelor and master degrees in Environmental and Land Planning Engineering from Politecnico di Milano in 2014 and 2016, and a PhD in Information Technology (System and Control area) from the same institution in 2021. He then continued his teaching and research activities as a post-doctoral researcher at DEIB (Environmental Intelligence Lab) from November 2020 to February 2023, and is currently junior assistant professor at the same department.
His research mainly focuses on applying machine learning techniques to complex environmental systems, with special focus on forecasting and control tasks. His interests also include spatial data analysis and chaos theory. Matteo co-authored more than 30 scientific publications in internationals journals, book chapters and conference proceedings, and collaborated with several Italian and international institutions, including UC Berkeley and Cornell University.
