Giorgio Santambrogio has dedicated his whole career as a Researcher and Professor to Biomedical Engineering and he has always been an attentive and participating member of the National Bioengineering Group.
His research in the Motor Rehabilitation field was developed at the Bioengineering Center in collaboration between the Politecnico di Milano and the Don Carlo Gnocchi Foundation. He therefore had in his cultural and moral foundations a strong focus on problems of technological and social fallout for the benefit of the sick and the disabled.
Among the first members of the Bioengineering Department of the Politecnico di Milano, then in the Bioengineering Section of the DEIB, he was Full Professor since 2005. Here he participated in the construction of the research group on rehabilitation technologies and their applications, contributing to the establishment of TBM Laboratory of Biomedical Technologies.
His commitment to research has never been an alternative to taking care of the teaching offer in Bioengineering at the Politecnico di Milano, an institution he was proud to belong to, and to the relationship with the students who appreciated his sometimes gruff ways, always direct, never hasty or superficial, paternal sometimes.
He served, with the dedication and seriousness that was his custom, as Vice-Dean of the School of Systems Engineering with the Dean Prof. Armando Brandolese, as President of the Commission for State Exams, as an attentive and proactive member of the Council of the Degree Program in Biomedical Engineering and of the Doctoral Board in Bioengineering.
We, his colleagues, want to remember him with affection and esteem, grateful for having had the opportunity to share a part of our human and professional journey with him.
