Francesco Pinciroli is Retired Full Professor Bioengineering and eHealth and Retired Head of the eHealthLab of the Politecnico di Milano. He is Elected Founding Member and Fellow of IAHSI - the International Academy of Health Sciences Informatics. Also he is Former Honorary Visiting Professor at City University London,UK, and Former Senior Associate to the Engineering in Health and Wellbeing Research Group at the National Research Council of Italy. He headed the long lasting cooperation at the Cilea Interuniversity Consortium for Information and Communication Technologies. He headed the Visible Human Dataset Milano Mirror Site, built up as a cooperation between Politecnico di Milano and the US National Library of Medicine. In his early years he spent two NATO/OTAN Fellowships at the Biomedical Engineering Center at the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technologies. In 1977 he was among the founders of AIIM, the oldest Association for Medical Informatics in Italy. Advisor to manufacturing companies and to public and private hospitals, counselor to European governmental bodies, he was active in the international scientific publishing community, where he served up to Deputy Editor of the Journal Computers in Biology and Medicine. He is editor of several books, including the "eHealth – Medicina Digitale", published in 2017 in English language by the Patron Italian publisher. He co-authored hundreds of scientific papers, appeared also in top level journals. His research interests crossed the areas of medical databases, biosignals and bioimages digital archives, electronic medical records, e-prescribing, apps for Medicine and Healthcare, sustainable privacy of patient digital data, continuing education for healthcare chief information officers.
