Lujayn Al-Khasawneh is a PhD candidate at Politecnico di Milano within the STEP-CHANGE programme, affiliated with the Environmental Intelligence for Global Change Lab. Her doctoral research focuses on modelling climate risk perception and behavioural responses through social learning, with the aim of improving how climate information and policy interventions are designed, communicated, and evaluated.
Lujayn holds a BSc in Energy Engineering from Al Hussein Technical University and an MSc in Energy Economics, Law, and Management (SoLEM) from Université Savoie Mont Blanc. Her academic work has centered on energy justice and equity-oriented climate policy, including research on distributional impacts and the feasibility of low-carbon infrastructure solutions in water-scarce contexts. She has also contributed to applied research and dissemination, including conference work on how energy systems can be shaped by political and institutional constraints.
Professionally, she has worked as a carbon policy advisor supporting decarbonisation planning and climate governance projects across the MENA region. Her broader interests include climate policy design, just transitions, decision-making under uncertainty, and the social dimensions of adaptation and mitigation.
