Person details

Andrea Hejdová was born in 1999 in the Czech Republic. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Nanotechnology from the Technical University of Liberec (TUL), where she developed expertise in electrospinning. She later earned her Master’s degree in Bioengineering at TUL, with a thesis focused on the development of biodegradable electrospun nanofibrous materials for small-diameter vascular grafts. During her master’s studies, she collaborated with the Institute of Physiology of the Czech Academy of Sciences, where she adopted an interdisciplinary approach combining materials engineering and cell biology to replicate the native vascular wall on the fabricated nanofibers through cell culture experiments.
She is currently pursuing her PhD in Bioengineering at the Politecnico di Milano under the supervision of Prof. Simone Vesentini. Her current research focuses on the electrospinning of silk sericin for the development of advanced materials for diverse industrial applications.
