Rafael Souza Baquero was born in 1997 in Salvador, BA, Brazil. In 2022 he concluded his double degree, receiving both the B.Sc. in electrical engineering with emphasis on electronics from Universidade de São Paulo, São Carlos, Brazil, and the M.Sc. in electrical engineering from Politecnico di Milano, Milan, Italy. Under the supervision of Prof. Piegari, Rafael is currently working on special applications for modular multilevel converters to obtain his Ph.D. degree at Politecnico di Milano. His research interests include electric vehicles, modular multilevel converters, battery energy storage, electric vehicle charging systems, and system identification.
