Federico Vignoni received his Bachelor and Master's degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Politecnico di Milano, specialising in Mechatronics and Robotics. He is currently a Researcher at MERLIN Lab (DEIB). His research focuses on the automation of manual testing procedures for aircraft cockpits, which are traditionally performed by human operators following predefined test protocols. The objective is to develop a collaborative robotic system capable of executing interaction tasks (e.g., pressing buttons, actuating levers, rotating knobs, etc.) through the integration of machine learning techniques, trained neural networks, computer vision for component recognition, and 3D triangulation based on camera systems.
