Abstract
For the first time in Italy, a pilot authorized by ENAC from the headquarters of Vodafone remotely piloted a drone in flight over a 5G network about 15 kilometers away. Vodafone Italia and Politecnico di Milano in collaboration with Italdron made the first flight of a drone remotely piloted via the 5G network. The demonstration took place in the Vodafone headquarters in Milan. Here the pilot authorized by ENAC (the National Civil Aviation Authority) remotely piloted the drone in flight over an area of the municipality of Sedriano, about fifteen kilometers away. In particular, the high resolution and very low latency video transmission system which is the basis of the system is the result of the work of two students (Pietro Avolio and Lorenzo Petrangeli) who collaborate with prof. Luca Mottola at the NESLab (www.neslab.it).
