May 2nd, 2019
Abstract
Tower of Hanoi, a team of DEIB students, won the RuCTF 2019. RuCTF is an international information security competition organised every year by the Ural Federal University, Russia. Notably, for the first time since 2008, the winner is a team not from a Russian university.
The competition started in November 2018, where the Politecnico students placed third place out of almost 100 teams, classifying for the on-site finals. The finals, held in Yekaterinburg on April 28th, saw the participation of 28 Russian and European teams.
The event is a “capture the flag” competition, and is focused on proving the student’s skills into finding security vulnerabilities, using them to attack other teams, and defend from the other teams’ attacks.
