On September 8, 2026, the Giuriati Gym was inaugurated at the Giuriati Sports Center, featuring the new space of the Climbing Lab, a laboratory of the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering at Politecnico di Milano coordinated by Prof. Alessandro Colombo.
The inauguration was also attended by the President of the Italian Alpine Club (CAI), which funded the new facility.
The Climbing Lab conducts research and develops advanced technologies, sensing systems, and mathematical models for the study of climbing and activities in vertical environments. By integrating hardware, modelling, and data analysis, the laboratory investigates human movement, forces and loads, interaction with equipment, and the strategies adopted in climbing and working at height.
Its activities also include the development of tools and methodologies for the use of climbing in rehabilitation and the testing of new forms of interactive climbing.
By combining engineering and applied research, the Climbing Lab contributes to the development of innovative solutions in the fields of sports technology, rehabilitation, and occupational safety.
