Prof. Christian Pilato, from the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering – Politecnico di Milano, has been appointed Chair of ACM SIGDA (Special Interest Group on Design Automation), one of the leading international communities dedicated to the automated design of electronic systems.
SIGDA coordinates many of the major conferences in the field, collaborating with events such as DAC, ICCAD, DATE, ASPDAC, FPGA, ESWEEK, and many others. Through these collaborations, the association supports technical and scientific activities, student programs, initiatives for young researchers, and the development of new research ideas.
Prof. Pilato’s appointment comes at a time when SIGDA is strengthening its dialogue with conference organizing committees and placing greater attention on the coherence and sustainability of the activities it supports. Within ACM, SIGDA also serves as a reference point for the broader digital electronics community and contributes to initiatives such as ACM Open, a program aimed at making scientific publishing more accessible and sustainable.
At the international level, SIGDA helps foster discussion among academia, industry, and other scientific communities, contributing to the identification of challenges and research priorities in the field of electronic system design.
Within this term, SIGDA aims to reinforce its role as a reference point for the global electronic design community, at a time of significant change driven by advances in semiconductors, computing architectures, and artificial intelligence.
