A research team from the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering - Politecnico di Milano—led by Professors Piero Fraternali and Marco Brambilla, with the support of research assistant Mathyas Giudici and PhD students Riccardo Campi and Nicolò Pinciroli—is contributing to the ENERGENIUS project, co-funded by the Horizon Europe programme.
ENERGENIUS is creating a new, inclusive way for communities to take part in the shift toward cleaner, smarter energy use. Guided by the principle of “Leave No One Behind,” the project focuses on making this transition fair and open to everyone.
At the centre of the project is the ENERGENIUS Suite—an easy-to-use digital platform that brings together many helpful tools in one place. These include interactive simulations, educational games, data dashboards, an online marketplace, and smart, AI-based suggestions.
What makes ENERGENIUS unique is how it combines information from many areas—like energy, health, money, traffic, social media, housing, and tourism—to give people personalized tips on how to use energy more efficiently. And as more people use it and share their data (safely and privately), the platform becomes even smarter and more useful across different sectors.
Politecnico di Milano plays a key role by offering AI-powered guidance on saving energy and understanding regulations, using a virtual assistant powered by a large language model.
