
Prof. Giambattista Gruosso from the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering – Politecnico di Milano has been elected Chair of the IEEE – Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Italy Section.
Founded in 1884, IEEE is a globally recognized non-profit organization with more than 330,000 members across 150 countries. Dedicated to advancing technological innovation and excellence, IEEE serves as a leading authority in fields such as computer engineering, electric power, aerospace, consumer electronics, biomedical technology, and telecommunications.
IEEE plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of technology. It publishes 30% of the world’s literature in electrical engineering, computing, and control technology, organizes over 300 major conferences and 6,000 local meetings annually, and develops standards that guide industries worldwide. Currently, there are more than 800 active IEEE standards, with an additional 700 in development.
The organization is structured into 10 global regions, with the Italy Section belonging to Region 8, which encompasses Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. The Italian section in Region 8 is among the largest, boasting a membership of over 7,000. Prof. Gruosso’s election as Chair is a testament to his expertise and dedication to advancing the mission of IEEE in Italy and beyond.
