The AI-SPRINT research project, coordinated by Prof. Danilo Ardagna from the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering – Politecnico di Milano, was presented by the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA) at the Web Summit 2024 as a success case among the projects funded by the European Union under the Horizon 2020 Programme for Research and Innovation.
The Web Summit is one of the world's largest (70.000+ participants) and most important technology conferences, bringing together professionals, innovators, start-ups, investors and technology industry leaders from all over the world. It takes place annually in Lisbon, Portugal, and its aim is to facilitate networking and the exchange of ideas in the technology and start-up sector.
The main outcome of the AI-SPRINT project is an innovative framework for artificial intelligence applications that ensures data privacy and security by leveraging a continuum of computing resources from the cloud to the edge. This framework can provide tools to optimise the runtime of AI applications, improving their flexibility, scalability and energy efficiency. Furthermore, the project offered support to European software houses and cloud providers, creating new opportunities for the artificial intelligence and edge computing ecosystem.
