Prof. Enrico Caiani of the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering of the Politecnico di Milano has joined the Technical-Scientific Committee in support of the newly-formed Parliamentary Intergroup on Digital Health and Digital Therapies, whose purpose is to create the normative and regulatory conditions in order to foster a digital turning point in Italian healthcare.
In particular, the activity of the Parliamentary Intergroup will focus on the issue of digital therapies, which represent an absolute innovation in the healthcare field. These are therapeutic interventions guided by software based on scientific evidence resulting from rigorous clinical tests which, through personalized treatments, have the potential to determine favorable clinical outcomes in relation to a very broad spectrum of pathologies.
Among the pathologies whose treatment could benefit most from the application of digital therapies are chronic diseases such as diabetes, asthma and hypertension, mental illness and addictions, without considering the positive impact on rehabilitation processes.
