Politecnico di Milano is among the top 20 universities in the world in Architecture, Design and Engineering according to the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2023, the global ranking of the best universities by subject area.
In Design and Architecture, the Politecnico keeps its position among the top 10 universities in the world, in 8th and 10th place respectively. As far as Engineering is concerned, the Politecnico is among the top 20 universities in the world, in 18th place, in a highly competitive international environment.
In the areas that concern the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering, the Politecnico recorded important advances in the ranking, reaching 33rd place in Computer Science & Information Systems (+16, 10th in Europe), 18th in Electrical & Electronic Engineering (+1, 7th in Europe) and 7th in Mechanical, Aeronautical & Manufacturing Engineering (+6, 4th in Europe), while in Italy it remains the absolute frontrunner in all the three disciplines.
This result has been achieved mainly thanks to Politecnico's excellent reputation among employers and academics from all over the world; the Academic Reputation index, in particular, is the most relevant metric for the ranking (it makes up 40% of the final score) and is based on the evaluations of more than 150,000 academics.
Also noteworthy was the result obtained thanks to the new index introduced this year by QS: the IRN, which measures the level of international research collaboration.
