Abstract

On October 6, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:20 p.m., the Emilio Gatti Conference Room at the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering of Politecnico di Milano will host “Remembering Emilio Gatti”, an event dedicated to the Professor’s life, work and scientific legacy on the tenth anniversary of his passing.

The event will provide an opportunity to revisit the remarkable career of Emilio Gatti (1922–2016) as an academic, scientist and inventor, highlighting the contribution of his research and inventions and their lasting legacy across different scientific and technological fields.

Through contributions from colleagues, scholars and collaborators, the event will explore both Gatti’s scientific career and the impact of his inventions, from applications in astrophysics to those in industry. Scientific contributions will be complemented by the memories of his family, offering a more personal perspective on his life and on the relationship between his human and professional dimensions.

The event will be introduced by Marco Carminati, Chair of the Italy Chapter of the IEEE Nuclear and Plasma Sciences Society, and will feature institutional greetings from Donatella Sciuto, Rector of Politecnico di Milano, Sergio Savaresi, Chair of the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering of Politecnico di Milano, and Massimo Guarnieri, Chair of the IEEE History Activity Committee Italy.

Attendance is free of charge, but registration is mandatory by September 30, 2026.
