Abstract
Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 10:45 a.m., InBiblio will be inaugurated — the new space dedicated to reading and inclusion at IRCCS S. Maria Nascente.
The project is part of the initiative “IN BIBLIO con CHIARA – INclusivity and LIBraries for a Culture that Invites, Connects, Regenerates and Activates,” funded by the Polisocial Award 2024 of the Politecnico di Milano.
InBiblio is located in the San Siro neighborhood and aims to create inclusive libraries and community spaces where reading and storytelling become tools for growth, connection, and participation for children and young people with diverse vulnerabilities.
The project stems from a collaboration between Off Campus San Siro of the Politecnico di Milano and the UONPIA unit of IRCCS S. Maria Nascente, with the goal of creating sustainable, welcoming, and multisensory environments accessible to everyone.
In these spaces, reading is not just an individual activity but a shared experience: through technological tools and innovative approaches, linguistic, cultural, and social barriers are overcome, fostering socialization, inclusion, and the appreciation of diversity.
A central role has been played by the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering - Politecnico di Milano, with a team coordinated by Prof. Alessandro Colombo, which designed and developed an interactive reading room.
Now installed at IRCCS S. Maria Nascente, the room comes to life during reading, offering visual and sound stimuli that encourage engagement and participation of people with cognitive disabilities, making reading truly an experience for everyone.
