Abstract
On March 16th, 2023 at 2.00 pm Mattia Tibaldi, PHD Student in Information Technology at DEIB, will give a seminar on "Sustainable computing – A look into the future" in DEIB PT1 Room.
Thinking sustainably is becoming more of a necessity than a mere exercise in style, and sectors like IT can't move forward without asking themself questions. What is the impact of information technology on sustainability? How are IT outcomes produced? What kind of materials are needed to manufacture computer systems? Can we reduce the environmental effects of computing? Of course, IF an answer exists, computer engineers alone cannot solve the problem. Multisectoral and social collaboration is the key to success. In this seminar, we will try to answer these questions by critically analyzing the IT sector and its multiple social and environmental implications.
