It's our tradition to have a shared moment when our community of users can meet and discuss outside of the cleanroom. We would like to stimulate even more the interaction between the groups that live our cleanroom and that make it alive, but also open the doors to new researchers interested in our facility.
In particular, we will announce a new initiative: the Polifab Starting Grant, which will provide free access to Polifab to small teams of young researchers with brilliant ideas to realize in our facility.
This year we have many news to share with you.
In October 2021 we will open an expansion (250 additional m2 in ISO06 class, for a total classified area of about 650 m2) built in the framework of the first Joint Research Center “MEMS Lab” with ST Microelectronics. New machines are supposed to be installed by the end of the year and the inauguration of what we call "Polifab/2” is fixed for December 15th, 2021.
As you know, in January 2021, Polimi and ST Microelectronics have signed an agreement for the constitution of a “Research Center on Sensor sysTEms with Advanced Materials” (STEAM JRC), including the realization of a pilot line for MEMS prototyping on 8 inches wafers.
To cope with this challenge, the actual location in the historical building called Cremlino was not appropriate: in agreement with the rectorate we decided to realize a new infrastructure (about 1200 m2 of classified area) in the area of “Gasometri” in Bovisa. A first plan for the new infrastructure has been prepared, including investment in equipment for more than 20 millions of euros from the STEAM contact with ST.
As you can understand things are moving. The users meeting will be the ideal situation to present the perspectives of Polifab to our actual users but also to researchers interested in the new enabling technologies that will be available at Polifab in the next years.
Please find attached the flyer of the event with the important info, including the program.
For organization purposes we kindly ask you to register at this link.
Due to Covid related issues for the time being the number of available places is 70.
Users groups are requested to give a short presentation (5 min) about recent development in their activity. As usual, we will also have a poster session. Users are kindly requested to send us (infopolifab@polimi.it) the pdf file of their poster by Monday 13th at 9.00; we'll print it for you!
Please share the invitation to your collaborators and feel free to join even if you are not a user (yet).
