Abstract
On June 7th, 2021 at 11.00 am Davide Rotta, responsible of the Integrated Photonic Technology Center INPHOTEC, Camgraphic Srl (Pisa), will hold the seminar on “INPHOTEC - Developing Si photonics technologies under the leaning tower" in Conference Room “Emilio Gatti” .
Integrated photonics is considered by the European Commission one of the key enabling technologies in a wide range of applications, including 5G telecom and datacom, where the market of Si photonics transceivers is constantly growing. Biological and chemical sensing as well as RADAR and LIDAR imaging, microwave photonics and quantum communication are only some of the application fields where photonics integrated circuits can play a key role by leveraging a high degree of integration to obtain a significant reduction of Size, Weight and Power (SWaP) together with a lower cost. Inphotec is the Integration Photonic Technology Center founded by Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna in 2015 to act as a research and innovation center supporting academy as well as industry in the field of integrated photonics. The center has taken an emerging position in the Italian landscape of nanotechnology foundries, offering different technology platforms, ranging from typical Si photonics to ultra-low loss silica waveguide, Si nitride circuits and the innovative LithiumNiobate On Insulator platform. Besides, hybrid integration of light sources and a comprehensive packaging service are provided through their advanced packaging platform, which is currently upgrading to qualified space-grade packaging. Since May 2021, Inphotec is managed under Camgraphic Srl, an innovative start-up founded in 2019 with the aim to develop and reach commercial exploitation of graphene photonics. This seminar will present the main activities and the capabilities of Inphotec to set the background for future interactions and collaborations.

Short Bio
Davide Rotta graduated in Physics in 2011 and received his PhD in Nanosciences and Nanotechnologies in 2015 at the University of Milano – Bicocca with a thesis on CMOS spin qubits and 2D field effect transistors based on monolayer MoS2.
In 2015 he joined INPHOTEC Center of Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna in Pisa as photonic packaging process engineer, focusing on fiber optics alignment and active devices integration in Si photonics.
Davide has developed a ten-year experience in CMOS nanofabrication and optoelectronics packaging for prototyping and small-scale production of nanoelectronic and photonic integrated circuits.
Since 2020 he is the technical leader of INPHOTEC packaging pilot line and since April 2021 he is the clean room manager under Camgraphic Srl.
Due to the Covid prevention restrictions, only a limited number of participants will be accepted.
