Serena Tagliacozzo is currently a Researcher at Polytecnic University of Milan (Milan, Italy) working on water operators' risk perception and behaviors under deep uncertainty in climate change scenarios.  Also, she serves as Associate Editor of the journal Frontiers in Disaster Communication. Previously, Dr Serena Tagliacozzo has worked at the National Research Council of Italy (CNR) where she was active in designing and implementing projects and studies on gender equality, disaster communication and post-disaster recovery. During her time at CNR, she has collaborated as External Expert Advisor to the Driver+ project within the Volunteer Management Task Group of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent and as as expert consultant for the ROADMAP project (https://civil-protection-knowledge-network.europa.eu/projects/roadmap) collecting good practices in (i) risk and crisis communication and (ii) build back better and leave no one behind.
Prior to joining the CNR, Serena has worked as Crisis Management policy consultant for Leonardo Aereospace and Defence S.P.A. supporting the design and improvement of policies and procedures related to crisis management, travel security, supply chain risk management and social media intelligence. Dr Tagliacozzo gained relevant experience in the disaster risk management field through work in diverse settings, including policymaking institutions such as the Joint Research Centre’s Disaster Risk Management Unit in Ispra (Italy). She taught classes and gave lectures in emergency planning, emergency communication and fire and volcanic risk management at University College London and Kingston University in the UK. She holds a Ph.D. in Disaster Risk Reduction from University College London (UK) and a Master and Bachelor Degrees in Psychology from University of Naples Federico II (Italy).
