Gianluca Bardaro is a Research Fellow at the Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Lab (AIRLab), part of the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering (DEIB) at Politecnico di Milano.
He earned his PhD from Politecnico di Milano in 2020, with a thesis focused on developing software engineering techniques to simplify and improve robot software development.
From 2019 to 2022, he worked at the Knowledge Media Institute (The Open University, UK), where his research covered robots in smart cities, healthcare robotics, and social robotics. Since 2022, he has been working at AIRLab on robotics for industrial inspection and agriculture.
His current research focuses on the use of foundation models in robotics, including language models for human–robot interaction and planning, vision-language models for perception, and action models for end-to-end robotic applications.
