Joint Lab (JLab) is a long-term research program activity between Politecnico di Milano and Huawei on multiple research activities in 5G/6G technology, vehicular radar, vehicular wireless connectivity and networking. JLab is multidisciplinary and involves multiple Departments of Politecnico di Milano coordinated by Prof. Umberto Spagnolini as Director of JLab.
The following projects are active:
- Vehicular synthetic aperture radar and experimental vehicle MIMO radar prototype with SAR imaging and motion compensation.
- 5G/6G integrated radio access and backhauling (IAB) with programmable mesh architecture in active and passive (IRS) relays and mobility.
- AI/ML mmW MIMO channel estimation in vehicular speed mobility in 6G Hybrid-Beamforming systems exploring the algebraic structure of dynamic vehicles' motion.
- Vehicular communication (V2X) in 5G NR exploit the synergies of FR1 and FR2 for V2V/V2I beam-alignment, blockage and mmW link prediction using statistical ML.
- Experimental investigation in Sub-THz G-band propagation with analysis of the influence of atmospheric effects.
- Statistical analysis of the interference to satellite systems of future International Mobile Telecommunications (IMT) 6GHz radio access services.
- Design of passive components and packaging for mmW and sub-THz with an emphasis on miniaturization, frequency upscaling and cost.
- Spin-waves and magnetic materials for integrated RF signal processing devices.
- Materials and nanocomposites for tunable devices and smart EM surfaces in sub-THz region.
