Sommario

On October 27, 2025 at 11.00 am Simone Orlando, DEIB Research Assistant, will hold a seminar on "End-To-End Encryption and AI" at DEIB, 2A Room (Building 20).

End-to-end encryption (E2EE) has become the standard for communication security, providing confidentiality and privacy guarantees to billions of users worldwide. However, the growing trend of integrating artificial intelligence (AI) models, including within E2EE systems, raises significant security concerns.
In this seminar, we will present a critical analysis of the relationship between AI models and E2EE applications. We will examine the potential security implications and identify conflicts with the guarantees offered by E2EE. We will also explore some of the legal implications arising from the integration of AI models into E2EE applications, considering how such integration could undermine the confidentiality that end-to-end encryption promises. Finally, we will present a set of best practices to address these issues.
